Fairly quiescent weather is expected over the country on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday, a northwest flow is expected to develop over the South Island as a frontal system approaches. The front will move over the South Island on Wednesday and quickly over the North Island on Thursday. There is still a low risk that rainfall totals in the northwest flow over Fiordland and southern Westland will reach warning criteria. In addition, on Thursday, there is a similar risk in the west of the North Island, mainly affecting the high country from Taranaki to the central plateau. Due to the fairly rapid movement of the front on Thursday, this rainfall may be brief but quite intense. However, this event is still a long way out to be reasonably sure. nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-stories/13011559/quiescent-weather-expected-for-the-early-part-of-the-week/
