NZ NewswireMarch 18, 2012, 3:59 pm Heavy rain and possible flooding is expected to hit the top of the North Island. The MetService is warning a deep low is expected to bring about 150mm of rain and southeast gales to Northland on Sunday night and Coromandel and Gisborne on Monday. "People in these areas are advised to watch out for rapidly rising streams and rivers, slips, surface flooding and hazardous driving conditions." Weather Watch says strong winds, heavy rain and surface flooding may also affect parts of Auckland. Drivers of high-sided vehicles may find wind gusts difficult, in particular on Auckland Harbour Bridge. The low should have moved through Auckland and Northland by midday Monday and Gisborne by tomorrow night, Weather Watch says. However, gusty easterlies are forecast to remain across the North Island for three or four days. nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-stories/13198222/heavy-rain-to-hit-north-island/
