Vector is warning power lines could be brought down, cutting electricity supply.
WeatherWatch head weather analyst Philip Duncan says an unstable weather pattern is producing heavy showers.
"So we're going to see cold air moving into the deep south with snow and in the north, heavy downpours with some thunderstorms in the mix as well and possibly even some isolated tornados."
